About Us

The portal is established under the Tamil Nadu Money Lending Entities (Prevention of Coercive Actions) Act, 2025 and its accompanying Rules, 2025.

Objectives

  • To regulate money lending activities in Tamil Nadu
  • To prevent coercive, unfair, and illegal recovery practices
  • To ensure fair interest disclosure, standard loan agreements, and borrower rights
  • To create a digitally governed registration and monitoring system
  • The portal acts as a single window for registration, renewal, annual filings, public disclosure, and grievance redressal mechanisms

Registering Authority

Appointed by the Government under Section 4 of the Act, the Registering Authority is responsible for:

  • Granting, renewing, suspending, or cancelling registration
  • Verifying applications through police, revenue, and other departments
  • Maintaining and publishing district-wise registers of entities
  • Monitoring compliance with the Act and Rules

The Government of Tamil Nadu has notified all the District Collectors as Registering Authority under their area of jurisdiction.


Ombudsperson

Appointed under Section 17 of the Act, the Ombudsperson:

  • Acts as a mediator between borrowers and money lending entities
  • Inquires into complaints relating to interest rates, recovery practices, and loan closure
  • Has powers equivalent to a civil court for dispute resolution
  • Ensures fair and just settlement following principles of natural justice
